BBC Horizon - Perception - The McGurk Effect
The McGurk Effect is one of the most astounding things I have experienced, it is something common to all humans. In this experiment the Professor is recorded saying “Ba” but the visuals are replaced with him saying “Va”. However, they do not change the audio at all, yet because of how the human brain works, all you will ever hear is “Va”. The weirdest thing is that, unlike magic tricks or similar illusions, once you know how it works it doesn’t affect it still working on your mind.
