Black Mirror
Charlie Brooker has done it again. Black Mirror is a collection of (so far) superb little short stories dealing with the information age. Tonight’s episode was a ‘what if’ story concerning the kidnapping of a British Princess. The ‘terrorists’ had only one demand; that the Prime Minister have sex with a pig on live TV or she would be executed that very day. What was clever about this was that the public were shown to want the PM to do this, and not because they wanted him to save her life, but because they want to see him humiliated. An obvious jab at reality shows like ‘I’m and Celebrity’ and the like. I won’t spoil what happens, but seriously, check it out.
Next week is a jab at the X-factor, and the advert for it even says “straight after the X-factor finals” despite it being a Channel 4 programme.
