My thoughts on “Once”
So I watched this movie for the second time the other night… and I still feel the same. I don’t really like it.
*Que boos and shouts from the audience*
Yeah… sorry guys but this was drivel. Don’t get me wrong, I love the music, I have the damn soundtrack. However, the film wasn’t to my taste. Now some of you might be thinking “that’s because you like big action movies” and the like, but that’s not true. I love a good drama; I demanded to watch ER every night when I was young… even if only to stay up later. This however isn’t a drama. It’s a music video. A really long music video. A really long music video that offers the audience nothing appealing to watch while they listen to the music, just a mug shot of the band. If you want that, just go see them live, that would be a much better way to spend your money.
And if you want to see a musical, watch Moulin Rouge or Chicago. Hell, even watch Cats! At least you get main characters in those films that you feel like you know and care about! The ‘Guy’ and ‘Girl’ take up nearly all the screen time yet tell us nothing about themselves other than the situation/predicament they are in. I came out of this movie not knowing anyone or caring.
Bring on the hate. I’m away to watch Big Trouble In Little China.
